Estonian Cable Television Operator Starman Selects SeaChange’s Open Software for Nationwide Video-on-Demand Service

SeaChange’s Next Generation Adrenalin Back Office Selected by 28 EMEA Operators

ACTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SeaChange International (NASDAQ: SEAC), a leading global multi-screen video software innovator, today announced that Estonia’s leading cable television and digital terrestrial television operator, Starman, will roll out a nationwide video-on-demand (VOD) service based on the open SeaChange Adrenalin video back office. Planned for subscriber availability later this year, Starman’s offering to its digital cable households will include VOD, catch-up TV and nPVR.

From its primary operations center in Tallinn, Starman serves television, Internet and phone on a network that’s currently available to approximately 45 percent of Estonian homes. Starman is the 28th operator in Europe to select SeaChange’s next generation Adrenalin as a foundation for VOD services. Adrenalin is based on an open service-oriented architecture to deliver a television experience that scales to serve millions of assets to any video device across multiple network types, either deployed in a network or in a hosted model. Overall, SeaChange’s back office customers across Europe serve an estimated 36 million subscribers on televisions, PCs, tablets and mobile phones.

Separately, Starman will also roll out SeaChange’s eventIS CASIS system to update its DVB Service Information (DBV/SI) operation. SeaChange’s global Professional Services organization has been contracted to manage both deployments including testing, launch support and, for the back office, integration with Intek set-top boxes, Cubiware middleware, Edgeware video servers and components from other third-party suppliers.

“Starman selected SeaChange because of its comprehensive technology. This platform enables us to provide a wide range of entertainment services for Estonian households. Some of these solutions are the very first in Estonia,” said Hanno Liiva, chief technology officer at Starman.

“SeaChange is very pleased to continue its expansion into the Nordic and Baltic region through a nationwide service deployment with Starman,” said Erwin van Dommelen, president SeaChange Software. “Customers here and across EMEA are choosing SeaChange for its unmatched history and focus in on-demand service development. Our open and flexible back office has enabled many of Europe’s on-demand services to get off the ground rapidly and reliably, while establishing a cost-efficient path to support subscriber growth and add new services and devices for a continually compelling offering.”

SeaChange will demonstrate its next generation multi-screen back office, and advanced advertising solutions at the ANGA Cable Show, June 12-14, Cologne, stand 028, hall 10.1.
