SeaChange to Unveil Products at Cable-Tec Expo to Enable Content Delivery Networks

Software and Hardware Introductions Ensure End-to-End Video CDN Performance and Content Workflow

ACTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SeaChange International (NASDAQ: SEAC) is a leading provider of software applications, services and integrated solutions to manage, monetize and deliver on-demand video to multiple screens - the TV, PC and mobile devices. At this year's SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Denver, Oct. 28-30, the Company will unveil a range of products to help broadband operators time-shift and place-shift video to any screen.

This is the first wave of SeaChange's Content Delivery Network (CDN) line-up. A CDN is a combination of software, network and server technologies that work together to satisfy consumer requests for video content. A CDN centrally stores, transparently moves and localizes content to optimize the delivery process, which reduces bandwidth costs, improves the end-user experience and increases global availability of content.

"Our industry shares a three-screen ambition and SeaChange has delivered the solutions required for a universally managed CDN framework emerging from the video-on-demand investment that's already in place," said Yvette Kanouff, chief strategy officer, SeaChange. "While Axiom delivered the video business reliability and automation for video-on-demand, our CDN suite supports vastly scaled and diverse video services with automation and cross-platform video service assurance."

The products SeaChange is featuring at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo capitalize on the emergence of IP networks and SeaChange's Axiom On Demand, the predominant content delivery platform in on-demand television. Demonstrations in booth 4088 will include:

    -- SeaChange Universal Resource Manager
    -- SeaChange RS-DVR Solution
-- SeaChange AssetFlow(TM) Content Management System
    -- Flash Memory Streamer 2500

Universal Resource Manager: Intelligence to optimize vast network performance

The SeaChange Universal Resource Manager (URM), available in early 2010, provides dynamic resource and admission control for broadband networks including IP and HFC devices such as QAM, CMTS and routers. The URM ensures that applications and resources are available to reliably deliver on service level agreements. This comprehensive software solution can set and ensure subscriber policies as well as application policies, provisioning services based on business rules. The SeaChange URM:

-- Monitors cable's use of network technologies (IP and HFC)
-- Integrates with third-party components (QAM, CMTS, routers, etc.)
-- Shows real-time information about network links (speed, bandwidth, etc.)

AssetFlow: Seamless content management supporting CDNs and other services

SeaChange's AssetFlow solution is a video content and metadata manager that automatically manages the lifecycle of a single source file to reach any consumer device whether wired or wireless. By providing "workflow templates" operators can easily and graphically choose only the services required, which helps manage a three-screen video deployment. AssetFlow, available this year, can produce regionalized video versions in any format and support business rules about pricing or presentation on TVs, PCs and mobile phones.

SeaChange RS-DVR: Shattering the settop DVR business model

In response to overwhelming subscriber demand for the convenience of time-shifted television, SeaChange offers its SeaChange RS-DVR as a comprehensive enterprise network solution that's rooted in Axiom. SeaChange RS-DVR uniquely provides operators with the ability to deliver DVR functionality without deploying expensive DVR settop boxes incorporating hard drives. The SeaChange RS-DVR solution also provides the subscriber with multi-room DVR capabilities without the need for in-home wiring and truck rolls - at a fraction of the cost of settop DVR rollouts. Its underpinnings include the new SeaChange RS-DVR server, which supports 108 terabytes shared among 500 subscribers; 100 SD and 25 HD hours per subscriber; and 4,000 SDE streams simultaneous ingest.

FMS 2500: Latest option for economical, high-density streaming

The new SeaChange Flash Memory Streamer (FMS) 2500 expands on the performance of the industry's first family of compact, reliable solid-state flash streamers to meet the demands of the ever increasing uptake in VOD streams and CDN applications. With no spinning disks and 99.999% availability, and a lifespan that's 10 times longer than Multi-Level Cell Flash solutions, while running on one-tenth of the required power, the FMS 2500 will boldly represent how vendors should meet cable's cost-performance demands in the SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo Green Technology Pavilion. The pavilion will highlight the practical business of energy conservation in the cable industry through technologies that offer gains in powering and alternatives for cable plants, operational upgrades, and improvements to enable additional efficiencies.
